In the midst of all the animosity being thrown at Chair and Chair fans themselves since the finale, I couldn’t help by notice a recurring theme in almost all of the arguments against Chuck and Blair and specifically, the IP incident.

“What would you do if you were in Blair’s position?”

I find this very odd. Maybe I’m the exception, but before every rebuttal from a Chair hater asked me to put myself in this fictional character’s place, I never actually even saw it as a possibility to be pimped out for a hotel. I never went to bed at night, mulling over how exactly I would react if my fiance magically became a billionaire hotel owner, found a long lost creepy uncle who had rapey tendencies, and decided to sell my body to said creepy uncle to save his magical hotel. I always thought that made me sane, but apparently it means I’m willing to be pimped out since I don’t have a perfectly thought out response to this question. Should I also start worrying about space aliens falling from the sky, because I think that would probably be more likely to happen?

The situations that the characters on Gossip Girl are put through are not supposed to be relatable. The writers aren’t constantly saying the show is a heightened reality just because they like to hear themselves talk, it’s for a reason. The point of this show is to simply entertain us for an hour on Monday night. It’s not here for us to learn life lessons from and it certainly isn’t here for us to base our lives around the decisions of the characters.

To answer your question since you’ve asked so much, no I would not get back with someone that sold me for a piece of property, although I’d probably not get myself in that situation in the first place. To be fair though, I’d also not go back to someone that cheated on me with my best friend on top of a bar. But I’m guessing that has a lot to do with the fact that I am neither a fictional character nor do I live in a fictional universe.

So, your rants/campaigns/petitions saying that Blair deserves the same as me as a real life human being, is pretty much a moot point and actually makes me wonder if you are fully grasping the fact that Gossip Girl isn’t reality.
